It was once the case that the FINA World Cup was the ‘in-training race time’ and the championship chase was when the champ laid down their best for gold. But with $330,000 prizes up for grabs, Katinka Hosszu could be forgiven for turning that model on its head on her way to the European s/c crown over 200IM in Herning this evening. Mireia Belmonte (ESP), 4th by 0.01sec in the medley final, stuck closer to tradition on day 1, a 2:01.52 blast in the 200m butterfly establishing a European record and world textile best inside Hosszu’s 2:02.20 from 2012
