Guilherme Guido produced the performances of day 2 at the 57th Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio, the meet doubling as nationals and a world-titles qualifier. After a 53.78 in heats of the 100m backstroke, Guido, of Pinheiros, took the title in 53.84 ahead of clubmate Guilherme Basseto’s 54.78, the bronze to Nathan Bighetti, Minas Tênis, on 54.93. Guido’s heats effort lifted him to No10 in the world so far this season – but his place at world titles remains in doubt.
