Gregorio Paltrinieri & Gabriele Detti Set For Twin Distance Challenge At Milan Trophy

Gregorio Paltrinieri (L) and teammate and training partner Gabriele Detti celebrate gold and bronze for Italy in the Olympic 1500m freestyle final in Rio - by Patrick B. Kraemer

Olympic champion Gregorio Paltrinieri is not staring at the clock on the way to the defence of his world 1500m freestyle title in July – at least not yet. Too unnerving at this time of the season, he tells Stefano Arcobelli of the Gazzetta dello Sport, on the eve of a twin distance challenge with training partner and fellow Rio podium placer Gabriele Detti at Milan Trophy. Set your own clock, anyhow: 4pm at the Piscina di via Macerate is where it all gets underway tomorrow, Federica Pellegrini up in the 200m freestyle in her first four lap race since travelling to the United States and popping a sharp 1:56 flat on Pro Swim series

Weeks ago Pellegrini said she was going to swim 100-200 backstroke and 100 free in Milan. So probably no 200 free for her tomorrow 😉

Thanks FabiOS, we shall see – Gazzetta suggests she will – we’ll soon know 🙂

She didn’t 😉
Just 200 back for her this morning: 2’12. I guess this afternoon she will try to improve her p.b (2’08″05) and grab the italian record (2’08″03) held by Alessia Filippi.

Thanks, FabiOS, no, she didn’t, neither 200 free nor the 200 back record.
