Fran Halsall, the British sprinter with 10 world, 17 European and 11 Commonwealth podium visits to her credit since 2006, has announced her retirement. The following is a tribute to her and those who have guided her in a career that might have ended with an Olympic medal in Rio had it not been for the presence of a swimmer racing with a doping record in tow.
