End of A Long Era: The Pool Party’s Over Between Swimming Australia and Speedo

Swimming Australia and Speedo are parting company after one of the longest partnerships between a fed/team and a kit maker in swimming history. Come December 31, the party’s over. The end of an era: Australians helped coin the use of Speedos as a generic term for bathers/suits/trunks of any kind. A market shifts. As Swimming Australia noted today: “Speedo and the Australian Swim Team first officially joined forces at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games, where heroes Dawn Fraser, Murray Rose, and Jon Henricks led Australia to win eight gold medals.
