Please forgive my ignorance. Is Mr. Cusack’s specialty sprinters (his current swimmers: the Campbell sisters and Mr. Sprenger) or has he also trained before mid-distance swimmers. Mr. Sprenger is also very good in 200m breaststroke, so I guess that would cover the 50/100/200 m backstroke in which ms. Seebohm specializes in. Both coaches have now very successful swimmers. Can someone mention some of their past swimmers? It would be very much appreciated.

Viva la Bang

Simon was born into swimming royalty, being the son of Mexico Olympic medallist Robert Cusack, and great nephew of Olympic gold medallist coach Arthur Cusack.
Simon’s coaching career started in 1999 when he took on an assistant coach role at Indooroopilly Swimming Club under the guidance of Head Coach and father, Robert Cusack.
Simon’s understanding of high performance, technique and speed development has seen him progress rapidly through Australia’s coaching ranks.
Simon has coached swimmers to Gold medal performances at the Olympic Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships.
In 2013 Simon was awarded AIS Coach of the Year, QAS Coach of the Year, Swimming Australia’s Coach of the Year, and ASCTA Coach of the year in 2014

McEvoy was pressured into leaving his last club after a falling out between his former coach and his siblings. Richard scarce hit the jackpot being gifted McEvoy. Cameron is such a talent that he would be good anywhere, he is not a product of scarce. Emily of equal talent would be fine under scarce but would likely continue at her current rate of improvement. Seebohm has such a big 200 background of training I believe that going to Cusack would see her break the world record. cusack would take her to another level in the 50/100 and she would still have a decent 200. IMO she’s mad not to go to cusack.

for33 probably haven’t got the answer your looking for….both fairly young coaches who currently have what they’ve achieved. Neither have any past swimmers of note. Scarce has some super quick age groupers but I agree with Commenter, Seebohm has done so much work with Brown that a move to Cusack would do no harm much like Liesel moving to Widmar late in her career.

But can / want to train with the swimmers at Commercial? Team / club swimmer dynamics plays a big part wherever she goes.

felixdangerpants

Absolutely Aussie Bob, never an easy decision, shame to see her leave Brown because that is one of Australias best ever swimmer/coach combos. Brown is brilliant.

To my understanding, it wasn’t a “club issue” with Brown but rather that Nudgee College (who’s facilities they used) decided to “pull the plug” and he was forced to find a new situation.

With Seebohm, solid cases can be made for both the Cusack or Strange options but Bob is spot on that personal dynamics are likely to be pivotal. She’s probably been the “queen bee” in her previous situation but she’s now got to adapt to being a “co-star” at either.

By the way, where is Stefan Widmer now?
Is he still in Australia? Who is he coaching now?

What a brilliant coach, his swimmers won 6 or 7 golds and other medals in 2007 Worlds.

Back in Australia as Qld head coach

Brown was pushed out of Nudged College by Nudged College. Ask the other club members what happened to their fees when Brown and the HPC swimmers left……
