BIG D

So Luke Greenbank is now ahead of Ryan Lochte in the word rankings! Ok not a fair comparison but a fact none the less.

It was an incredibly impressive swim, his technique is similar to Irie i.e nearly perfect.

I hope (but unfortunately doubt) that he will get a call up for Kazan. He is a real talent and to give him a taste of the Big Stage could only help him

On a similar vein I can’t remember the last time GB had a 100 junior Sprint freestyler of Duncan Scott’s ability. I know Kyle Chalmers is younger but he looks a man and fully grown. As Craig says there is a lot of meat to go on the bones of Scott yet.

Great comments re Duncan Scott. Duncan’s family are watching back in Alloa.

Duncan will be on Jr worlds.. there he is 3rd seed now, there is Chalmers and Felipe Ribeiro there as 1st and 2nd seed.. will be as interesting race, if everybody delivers their best there.

But the best for GB is they can probably for RJ find a guy who may be able to go 47 high relay start which is the biggest weakness of GB medley relay.

BIG D. I don,t think anyone has ryosuke irie,s technique. his backstroke looks like a knife going through butter. When irie swims the backstroke, there is little splash of water around him. He is also unique in the way he positions his head, very steady. Luke greenbank has a good technique though.

I agree, kyle chalmers looks like a grown man while Duncan Scott looks skinny.
I,m most intrigued by Cameron McEvoy who is also skinny but very fast.

Duncan went 49.19 at British Champs according to rankings…

Craig Lord

According to the results, BritFanGirl 🙂 4th at nationals

Thanks for that and the info, Joy

Kyle Chalmers is tall and big but no way he looks like a fully grown man. He still has tons of baby fat and little muscle.
That would be like calling Marrit Steenbergen fully grown woman just because she’s tall.
You want to know who’s young but looks like fully grown man with developed muscle? That’s Michael Andrew.

felixdangerpants

aswimfan you must be a looking at a very different Kyle Chalmers than everyone else.

felixdangerpants

And Salnikov is starting to look awfully like John Goodman.

roy

aswimfan, Kyle Chalmers is quite muscular but not as much as Michael Andrew. Boys at kyle Chalmers age don,t have tons of baby fat. At puberty muscle takes over for boys and fat takes over for girls. It,s just that some boys develop more “muscle mass” than others. Kyle Chalmers has certainly developed muscle mass and looks mature for his age. Michael Andrew on the other hand is more muscular than kyle Chalmers.

Speaking of michael Andrew, he has broken a lot of age group records and he,s a good swimmer but I think he has a temporary advantage over his peers bcos while he looks mature, a lot of the kids he competes against still look like kids. Some of them may catch up with him and overtake him once they grow into their bodies.

roy

by the way Duncan Scott is 17 but he looks 14. He still has the physique and looks of a kid. Late puberty?

aswimfan

I was wrong, I was remembering Chalmers from an older photo. Yes, he has developed some musculature, but nowhere near Michael Andrew has.

BritFanGirl

He’s 18 roy, but looks 14 I agree…

Good all rounder looking at his PB’s 2’01.5 IM from European Juniors last year as well at 17, didn’t swim it this year by looks of it?

Coach maybe has an eye on his Worlds preparation.

felixdangerpants

aswimfan Chalmers is far far more muscular & developed than Andrew. That 100 fs final at Aussie nationals he was not the tallest but he was the most solidly built swimmer in that field.
