ARD’s doping investigations team released its latest documentary in Germany last night and follows through with an English-language summary this morning under the headline that explains it all: IOC Sweeps Test Results under the Carpet. Jamaican runners are in focus: they tested positive for clenbuterol but no action was taken, on the basis of ‘low level; possible meat contamination”. History tells us that anti-doping authorities and the IOC may well be perceived as having been naive. The questions now stretch to who else and which are those other sports referred to by ARD but not yet revealed.
