A nice feel good story about two champions. Australia has its own story about redemption from reformed drug addict Daniel Smith. Daniel was also in a dark place for many years after failing to live up to the pressure of expectation following an outstanding junior career.

Craig who are the dark horses for an Olympic spot on the US team?

They’d be the folk about to step into the light, Craig 🙂 those who make the final will step into that light … and until they do, impossible to say. I think the nature of dark horses is relative: no-one could have predicted that Michael Phelps would have made the 200 fly for Sydney 2000 … though Bob Bowman would surely have had an inkling that on a fine day, the wind in the right direction, angels hovering, the door was wide open 🙂 I think there will be few – if any – who make it to Rio for the USA as medal shots (the majority) who could genuinely be called ‘dark horse’.
