For Cate Campbell’s challengers inconvenience, CC has still much room for development in her starts, turns and underwaters.

She is not going to become an underwater start and turner like Coutts that is not her strength. As for her starts and turns sit on poolside and watch her be first to the 15, miles ahead at the 25 and maintaining that through the turn like I have all year long in Australia. Her weakness used to be her last 15m, she has that 100 down to perfection the way she races it. When someone starts beating her then start criticizing her (and over 100 that is not happening any time soon). She will never have the explosiveness off the blocks that some of the shorter more muscular girls have because she is tall and lanky but when it comes to pure swimming speed she demolishes everyone. Her technique is better than any female sprinter ever.

Groves also swam a superb 100 fly 57.9. Big breakthrough meet for her and finally a decent 200 fly time this year from an Aussie girl. Finishes the year in the top 10 for both distances. Commonwealth trials will be interesting with Gandy in the mix.

Felix, Cate’s technique is certainly one of best ever. Better than any female sprinter ever…? impossible to say … at her finest, Therese Alshammar was a model of wind-tunnel efficiency, Cate and Britta Steffen among others who have also shown that same quality of movement and angle of buoyancy in full flow.

Cate has the most beautiful stroke in swimming history. No doubt. What a marvel

I’m not sure what felixdangerpants meant, but I didn’t mean to critizise CC. It was meant my comment to be more like a compliment. Sorry if I gave a wrong impression. Every swimmer has areas to improve.

SwimFanFinland,

I agree with you. Cate Campbell’s 0.8 RT really should improve, especially if she wants to take 50 free.
