Duel in the Pool: Capitani In For Bauerle as Women’s Coach

The United States women will have a new coach when they take part in the Duel in the Pool next month. USA Swimming announced on Thursday that Carol Capitani, the women’s coach at the University of Texas, will guide the American ladies when the Duel is held in Glasgow, Scotland on Dec. 20-21. Capitani replaces Jack Bauerle, who had to vacate his role as coach due to preparation for knee-replacement surgery.

I’m sorry Coach Bauerle can’t be there, but Coach Capitani is a great choice for this team. More women need to be given the chance to represent our National Teams. And she definitely has the credentials.

On the meet front. I think this is going to be a great meet. It will really come down to where everyone is in their training cycles. I think the Europeans are going to be really tough to beat.

Actually, I take it back. I think the Europeans are going to win the meet pretty easily. They have a great line up and even if we were at full strength, we would have our hands full. But it should be a fun meet for the fans.
