Lochte now has 9 individual WC titles, second only to Phelps’s 15. He’s well beyond Hackett’s and Peirsol’s 7. I’m surprised he does so well this meet given his supposedly poor preparation. He went faster in the 200 back than at the Olympics, and in the 200 IM he was only 0.08 slower, with no-one to push him. His 100 fly may be a personal best?

If he medals in the 100 fly, he will become the first swimmer to medal in 6 different individual events at the WC.

Good swim by Ricky, almost what he did last year but the only “sledgehammer” I saw was Sun flying through the 200 in a 1:43 to give his team the bronze. Why he didn’t swim the 200, I will never know.
