If Ms. M thinks she’s gonna waltz into Kazan and havecacwalkmin the park tomboys in the 50/100 breast she and Coach Rudd are justbwhistling Dixie.

Efimova will be tufer than nails @ home and w/President Putin in the stands and having advised the folks @ Omega that he “has ways of dealing w/those that displease me” can there be any doubt as to the races’ outcome?

I think Coughlin should give the fly a go too!

roy

I noticed Cody miller,s took about 3 illegal dolphin kicks at the start of the 100 meters breaststroke, don,t know about the turns.

roy

I think adam peaty should utilize additional dolphin kicks too, since some of his competitors use additional illegal dolphin kicks. I think he could swim a 56 low to 57 high with additional dolphin kicks. Something like a 56.90-57.30. peaty has a very powerful stroke and adding additional dolphin kicks to that will give him a monster time. But the thing about the Brits is that they like to follow the rules in sports even to their own detriment. I am suggesting this for peaty since FINA refuses to use the underwater camera.

Craig Lord

Adam Peaty didn’t need extra dolphin kicks for a 57.92, Roy – and yes, I would imagine that he – and most others – will be sticking to the rules, that being the reason they are there … in the interests of all.

Craig Lord

Doubt may be the only thing we can rely on, William

roy

Craig I agree. peaty didn,t need extra dolphin kicks for his 57.92 world record but cody miller should have been disqualified for utilizing additional dolphin kicks in his 59.51 swim. FINA refuses to use under water cameras and if they continue to refuse to use the underwater camera, swimmers like adam peaty will be at a disadvantage. So I think he should copy cody miller.

Solid effort by Franklin Her perfomances are quite predictable under Todd. She’ll definitely be 1.54 200free in the summer and right there with the worlds best. If I could prescribe events for Coughlin that would be 100free and 100back ONLY, If she can go under 54.00 and 59.00 respectively next summer she will be on the plane to Rio.

roy

I dont see coughlin going under 59 in the 100 back but she could be under 54 in the 100 free.

aswimfan

IMO, the only event Coughlin will qualify for Rio next year is as 4×100 free relay alternate.

As for Cody’s extra dolphin kicks, I saw more than half swimmers did it in the NCAA breasts finals, men and women.
If officials are vigilant this summer, many of those (ex) NCAA breaststrokers may be DQ

Bill,

I hope miss M. destroys Efi (metaphorically speaking of course in case anyone object) right in front of President P watching.

Coughlin may not longer have a sub 59sec 100bk left in her but will she need that ? We know Franklin, barring illness or injury, should be there but the other spot is a lottery.

Does the US currently have another swimmer who is consistently sub minute let alone breaking 59 ? Baker is the only US sub minute this year then we’re going back to 2013 for Pelton & Bootsma. A 59.2 – 59.4 may see you very much in the picture.

Bad Anon

I think if Coughlin were to get that 100back individual spot for Rio, it will only be just… 59.2-59.4 will be about what it will take, Coughlin textile best is a 59.12 from Shanghai 2011, after all she was able to snare that 200IM spot from Kukors 2.10.32 to 2.10.40 at the 2008 Olympic trials. Baker, Bootsma, Pelton et.al will all be right there, but Coughlins experience in the event is something to behold

To: aswimfan.

just like Iesse Owens in front of Uncle Adolph @ Berlin lo these many moons ago?

How cool. A “Lithuanian half-breed” as Tom Clancy had that Russian Admiral call the commander of the Soviet sub that was defecting to the U.S, in ” The Hunt for Red October.”

Dee

Lets just hope come Worlds officials DQ those illegally dolphin-kicking.

aswimfan

It’s just insanity that in the year of 2015 (when we thought we would have been flying around in jetpacks), FINA still refuses the help of simple technology (underwater camera) in such technical sport.

aswimfan

Dee,

I think our hope here may finally be answered because the officials seem to be more vigilant at Santa Clara and DQed Cody Miller in the 50 prelims 🙂

Personal Best

Maybe they’re reading SwimVortex 🙂
