Whilst there may be a rationale, using some criteria of the selectors’ choosing, for a smaller team, I do hope that adequate explanations are given to the less lucky (eg Roebuck and Lowe in the 200m fly). Eg “The reason for stipulating 30 was?….” because I would love to know why 29 or 31 was inappropriate. It is to be hoped that the number 30 was not chosen just because it is in the ten times table and a “round” number!
